What are your opinions on fan fiction to where the SWAT Kats end up dieing at the end? Just curious. Very considering it for my last fan fiction story.< Hmmm... Erm... I find it very... depressing... I tend to read for pleasure. It's not a fun experience for me if the end is all gloom and doom. I feel cheated when the author makes me care for their characters and then leaves them dead or miserable. Why did I keep reading to get that? To get depressed? I don't like to be depressed. I can get that in real life; I don't want it in my entertainment. But, that's just my opinion. I know there are those who seem to like that kind of thing... See Part 000 for warnings, notes and the rest. Summary: Jake finds the one he's been looking for, and drags his LifeMate willingly into the celebration. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Pat!" Her excited LifeMate's voice gave her only a few seconds warning before her field of view consisted of blurry cinnamon fur and her own white hair as he pulled her into a spinning embrace and fierce kiss in the middle of a campus walkway. She grinned and went with it till he stopped, letting her feet touch the ground and bringing her blue eyes down to level with his own gold ones. "What's gotten into you?" "I found him," came with a grin and another kiss. "And I got the guts up to ask him out and he's cool with sharing." She couldn't help but grin back at his unusual exuberance and the flush under his fur making him look more alive than he had in years. "And does this wonderful creature have a name?" "Jeremy Darkeye." He rubbed her back along the spine, pulling her closer against his warmth and into the chaotic swirl of his personal scent; excitement, arousal, nervousness, pleasure and less identifiable emotions mixed into a heady aroma of happiness in him. "The stripped panther?" She cocked her head, smiling at his state. It had been far too long since he'd gotten this excited over *anything*. Jake nodded his head rapidly. "We were hoping you could make it to dinner tonight at Sh'n's, twenty hundred, casual, discus things and formally meet." "Of course I'll make it," she kissed him softly. "Tell me 'bout him over lunch?" "Sure." He loosened one arm and strolled with her, periodically squeezing her to bleed off excited energy. "Not like you don't already know most of it." "Yah, but I'd like to hear it from *you*." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "You're *LifeMate*?" The chocolate striped panther nearly squawked as the slender tom snagged a triangular chip from a deep bowl in the middle of the table as they waited for her to show. That earned Jeremy an annoyed look and a shrug. "I told you I was bonded, that I can't be only with you." "But ... but," he swallowed hard. "There's a world of difference between you having a girlfriend and you having a LifeMate." "Really?" Jake leaned back into the deep cushions and regarded his date with real confusion. "Like what?" "Like, well, she's your *LifeMate*." Jeremy flattened his ears in uncertain frustration. "Doesn't that mean something to you?" "That it's for life, whatever it takes we stay together and work our differences out." Jake stated. "That we'll support each other in any and every way needed or desired." "That she comes first." "Well, yes." He nodded. "But so would a girlfriend I'd been with longer than you. LifeMate makes a difference between Pat and me, not you and me." "And what if she just decides ..." he shrugged hopelessly. "She won't." Jake assured him easily. "But ..." "She'd have to give up a boyfriend, two girlfriends and her lovers first." Jake murmured, leaning into Jeremy's space and bringing the heavy tom's muzzle to meet his with a gentle touch. "She won't interfere unless you hurt me without consent," and continued deepening the agonizingly tender kiss as Jeremy closed his eyes and relaxed with it. A bright flash stunned both toms into looking up at the small, silver-white female in black jeans and T-shirt starting in front of their table with a silly grin on her face. "Hi, Pat." Jake purred at her and settled back into his own space, leaving a doubly stunned Jeremy in his wake. "You two really do make a lovely couple." She chuckled. "This will be one for the scrapbook." "Pat ... Pakitra Dyne?" Jeremy stammered. "Holy ..." She gave a long-suffering sigh. "Yes, I'm Pakitra Dyne, daughter of Jason Dyne of PumaDyne. Yes, I stand to inherit a lot and I'm already involved with running the company. Now can we get to who I *am*?" "Yes, ma'am." Jeremy replied by reflex as Jake sat back and let it play out, sure the panther could handle it. "Or more to the point," she offered a friendly smile and sat down as a huge tray of nachos arrived. "Who *you* are to have captured my LifeMate's heart. I was beginning to despair of him ever finding a tom to love again." "Um, Jake," he glanced at his date. "Just how did you two meet, anyway?" He grinned. "I was a the teachers aid in an autoshop class she took in highschool. We got talking schematics and things happened from there." He chuckled. "It was over a year into it before I placed 'Dyne' with 'PumaDyne', and by then it didn't much matter." "Kat's bright," she snickered at the memory, "but sometimes misses what's in front of his nose." "I wasn't looking." Jake huffed. "You hardly acted like a rich brat." Jeremy settled back and watched the pair interact with the ease of long familiarity and bit back a pang of jealousy. He almost missed it when Pakitra turned her attention to him. "So, Jeremy, tell me why I should trust you." He didn't miss Jake's sudden shift in awareness at her tone, but was at a loss to what it actually meant. "This is my LifeMate," she continued. "And you've got an impressive trackrecord of leaving broken hearts behind you, not to mention your criminal record." She continued levelly, pausing to munch a nacho here and there. "While Jake's got every right to his own life and his choices, drug dealing and battery are not high on the list of good things." "Look, the battery was a trumped up charge. I was drunk and punched a guy *once* in the face. He didn't even bleed." Jeremy kept his growl in check. "The local had it in for me and used that to get me in more trouble that I deserved." "You don't protest the drug charges, though." Jake's voice was nearly emotionless. Jeremy looked away a little. "Cause I did that. I screwed up, I did my time, I leaned and I'm trying to make a better life for myself going to school." He shifted to face him. "I know it doesn't look good, especially with who you're used to being with," he nodded at Pakitra. "But I'm clean now, and I've been doing well for two years." He turned to her. "That trial of broken hearts you referred to were all before I got clean. I've only been with one Kat since I started school, and we parted pretty well, it just ran out for both of us. Her name's Tammy Gray if you want to check with her. She's still a student here." "She probably will," Jake muttered dryly and touched his date's arm. "I should have warned you 'brutally up front' is her standard approach." "It's okay, she *has* a point," he swallowed and met Jake's eyes. "I just wasn't expecting to get the third degree just yet, your criminal record is not standard first date material." "Oh," Jake back off a little, not quite sure what to say. "I don't do this much, just wanted to get it out of the way." Jeremy shot him a confused look. "I was kind of hoping we could sort this out well enough to spend the night together." He murmured. "I don't like waiting for things I want, and I want you. The connection's already there for me, this is just necessary formalities." Pakitra regarded her LifeMate and his date for a long moment as unsure silence descended on the table. "Jake, for my part, I like him." He nodded and focused golden eyes on Jeremy. "How much do you trust me?" "Hu?" Jake cocked his head, "would you follow my word in a firefight?" "Ummm," Jeremy tried not to panic at the bizarre question. "Only if you made sense." Jake lowered his chin to his raised, interlaced fingers and glared. "But not blindly." He shook his head. "I don't know you that well," and dropped his eyes. "If that's the wrong answer, I'm sorry." "Not wrong, just informative." Jake spoke softly. "What kind of commitment are *you* looking for, what kind of partner in me?" "I ... umm, what I think's realistic or what I hope for?" Jeremy asked for clarification carefully. "What you can realistically *give* right now, don't worry about what you think I'm up for just yet." Jake instructed easily. "I ..." he fell silent, closing his eyes and dropping his head to the table to rest on his hands and thought for a long moment. "I can promise to be a good mate," he opened his eyes and met the expectant golden pair across from him. "I will not walk away from you without trying to settle the problem and I will do everything in my power not to hurt you by our separation. Right now, I can't promise you my life. In the future, when I have my life put together and have something besides myself to offer, I want a Mate, or even a LifeMate. I ... I don't know if that would be you. If that's possible between us or even if you'll be with me that long." Jake nodded easy acceptance. "You know Pat still holds the most important place in my life," he paused as the other tom nodded. "Though traditional monogamy is not an option, I do expect you to not have sex with another without my prior consent, and I give you the same." "So tonight is about getting her permission?" He flicked his gaze between the LifeMates. "Yes," Jake nodded with a smile. "Though that was never in any real doubt. It was more for me to ... check my judgment." "Oh," he shivered and grabbed a thick wedge of chips, beans and cheese from their cooling meal. "So how do you want to go from here?" He asked softly. "To bed," Jake's offered hopefully, not betraying much of the rush of uncertainty that hit him when Jeremy nearly choked. "We don't ...." The panther swallowed and shook his head. "I just *really* wasn't prepared to hear that." Jake sighed in frustration, "what *were* you expecting?" "A normal date," he paused. "Well as normal as it could be when the premise is to meet a potential boyfriend's SO." Jake tried not to show his growing irritation, "so what were you *expecting*?" Jeremy shied away a little, "just well, you know, standard eat and small talk, maybe set a second date with just the two of us. You're moving *fast*, faster than even I used to." "We can do that, small talk and a second date." He offered, brushing his fingers lightly over Jeremy's. "I didn't mean to freak you out, I'm just usually the last one ready." He nodded and turned to the food to think for a long time, only peripherally aware that they'd joined him in silence. After the vixen waitress refilled their drinks for the third time he partially turned to Jake, "if we spend tonight together, umm ... how serious are you about staying with me?" "Very serious," Jake hesitated. "Jeremy, you'd be the third to my share bed. Pat was first, we've been together almost eight years. Del and I ... separated ... on his death. I don't share my body lightly." "Oh." Jeremy had to force his heart drown from his throat. "I knew you didn't sleep around, but ..." Jake shrugged. "You really think that much of me?" He couldn't keep the mixture of awe and painful hope from his voice. "I guess you can say it that way," he mused over it. "More like I don't make the right connection very often, and I don't do sexual desire well without that connection." He closed his eyes and let a held breath out. "Jake," he met his eyes. "If it's your desire, I would very much like to spend tonight, and many more, with you." "It is my desire." Jake drew Jeremy's hand to his lips and kissed it softly. "As long as it is yours too." "And my adorable LifeMate thinks he doesn't know how to woo a Kat." Pakitra's amused tone broke the mood a little as her camera landed on the table again. He smiled at her, blushing slightly. "I had the best of coaches." "You're very lucky." Jeremy murmured agreement. "I know," He crooned. "I know very well just how lucky I am." -- End: Live and Learn 01 ... 1/1 by Rauhnee Ranshanka GateKat@TransFur.com http://www.gatekat.net/Rauhnee/index.html ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Subject: [SWATKats_FanFic] Digest Number 52 Date: 26 Jul 2000 10:58:50 -0000 From: SWATKats_FanFic@egroups.com To: SWATKats_FanFic@egroups.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ/ Rules: http://www.gatekat.net/Lists/SWATKats/Nexus.html MKC BlackNet: http://www.gatekat.net/BlackNet/index.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There is 1 message in this issue. Summary: Jake and Jeremy spend their first night together and the morning after. Mostly the morning after. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Jake," Pakitra halted them near Jeremy's car and her motorcycle. "I'll be with Samantha for the weekend." She purred and pulled him tightly against her, sealing any reply he may have had with a hard kiss before releasing him just as suddenly and disappearing on her bike. Both toms stood still as Jake regained control of his breathing, then shook his head. "One of these days I have *got* to figure out how to do that to her." "Good luck, fems tend to be immune." Jeremy chuckled. "Where to?" "Pat's apartment." He opened the door and slid in. "I'll give you directions." "Umm, *her* apartment?" Jeremy asked, unsure as he set his seatbelt. "Yes," he nodded. "If it's too weird for you or something, my place or yours will work, it's just ... she offered ..." "No, I'm okay, just seems a little ... unusual." "What about us isn't?" Jake half apologized with a shrug. He shook his head and started the engine. "Direct away." +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Wow," was about all Jeremy could think of as he took in the most lavish apartment he could dream of as Jake gave him a quick guided tour. Dark leather couches and cushioned chairs, with black marble flooring in the living room. Hand painted tiles in the huge kitchen and bathroom with its shower big enough for three and a bathtub with jets in it. Deep, soft carpeting in the bedroom with a king sized bed. Beautiful scenery paintings and statues scattered in tasteful places everywhere. And not an appliance in sight. "Incredible." "Yah, yes I guess it is." Jake smiled almost apologetically. "I don't think I've look at the place much since she moved in." "I guess it's something you get used to." Jeremy's voice drifted off as he was lead back to the bedroom, and his new mate turned to bring their bodies close and nibbled his exposed neck. "Jake?" "Yes?" His voice took on a sultry air as he shifted back just enough to meet the disturbed charcoal eyes above him and chilled. "Can we go somewhere else?" He shivered, eyes focused behind his partner. "Please?" Jake twisted to catch what he was looking at, a life-sized bust of a furless demoness. "Uhhrr ... okay." "I don't like being watched," he offered uncomfortably. "That all?" Jake flicked his ears foreword with a smile. "Well, yah." He wasn't sure what to make of the sudden blur of cinnamon and blue that stopped with one hand on the statue's horn and a wide grin on his face. "That work?" He pointed at the white cloth covering the demons face, it's horns poking out of two holes ... "Underwear?" Jeremy couldn't stop the laughter that bubbled up at a demon with underwear covering her face and collapsed backwards on the bed. "Never thought you hand a warped sense of humor." "One of Pat's." Jake lunged on the bed over his new mate and grinned down at the still hysterical Kat. "She can smell her mistress while listening to us." Jeremy finally got his mirth under control, "and just what will Pat think of that?" "She'll probably laugh hysterically for about three hours and then threaten me with serious bodily harm if I try it again." He chuckled with a kiss to Jeremy's neck and went to work on the Kat's shirt buttons. "Good enough?" "Ohhh, yessss." He breathed, arching into the touch and quickly accepted Jake's dominance as the smaller Kat latched on to one of his *spots*, the hollow between his shoulder blade and arm and worked it with all the enthusiasm of the starving at a banquet. "Tell me to stop for anything," Jake's voice was breathy in his ear as he pulled Jeremy's shirt out and stopped, bringing his head up to lock eyes. "Promise." He drew a quick, deep breath and nodded. "Promise, I'll tell you. Now ..." his thoughts dissipated as Jake lowered his head to continue his exploration, tracing every thin, swirling stripe on the black fur with hands and tongue. His hot breath ghosting over the skin exposed by his touch. "Please don't stop." "Only when you want me too, promise." Jake mummer back. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jeremy woke suddenly to the feel of a warm male body curled against his back and fine linen under him and warmth and sweet air. He panicked for a split second before memory kicked and placed the unusual sensations as Jake shifted and kissed him on the back of the neck. "Morning Rem," came out a silken purr as gentle hands traced the patterns in his chestfur by memory. "Rem?" He closed his eyes and willed his heart rate down. "I ... it's something my head does." Jake murmured. "Nicknames, shortened names, are for those I've slept with." "So what was Del's full name?" Jeremy stretched and curled around to face his mate. "Mardel Windsom." He supplied in a tone asking for no more questions about it. "You like bondage?" "Uh?" "Well, you got *really* turned on when I pinned your wrists." Jake snuggled in even more, trying to mold his body into the one next to him. "If you do, we really need to talk about it soon." "You don't?" He tried to keep the fear from his voice. "No, I *like*. At least sometimes." Jake shifted to look the bigger Kat in the eyes. "And I'm into it enough to want safewords and *serious* communication about what is and is not desired." "You're way past me there." Jeremy murmured. "I'm just into a little handcuff play during sex." "Okay," Jake smiled. "But what do you like that way?" "Umm, well." He shivered as Jake half-jumped to settled squarely on his chest, one thigh against his sheath and balls, the other along the outside of his leg. "I just like having my wrists tied sometimes, or my partner's." "Even that's got potential," He grinned down at his mate, traced a subtle color-line on his dark face. "Would you let me do that? Tie your wrists for sex?" Jeremy nodded easily. "Sure." "Then we'll try it sometime soon," he grinned, pure predator shining through the civilized veneer he kept up and kissed him. "Can you explain why Sheshee over there," he pointed with his thumb to the statue. "Freaked you out?" "I just don't like being watched, being in the open like that." Jeremy sort of shrugged. "I can't explain it any better." "It's okay," Jake kissed him quickly, easily. "I was just curious." "So what don't you like?" He countered, directing the conversation away. "Mmm," Jake fell silent for a long moment, eyes unfocused. "I don't think I'd appreciate anything that kept me out of class, but I really haven't run across anything yet I couldn't at least tolerate enough to get some pleasure from." Jeremy glanced at the clock and sighed. "I ..." "Study?" He grinned ruefully. "Want to together?" He looked up skeptically, "you study?" "Well no," Jake sighed. "But I can hang out in your room as just as well as in my own, or you can study and I play with BlackNet here. I just want to be around you, okay?" He dropped his head to nuzzle the other's neck. "Jake, Jake," he caught the other tom's face and brought it up. "I'd like that. You just surprised me again, and I ready *do* need to study, no sex breaks, no distractions." "If you can deal with me typing on a keyboard, I won't disturb you." Jake promised. "But I'd like to help ... if you want it." "You understand accounting at all?" Jeremy sighed in frustrated hope. "Reasonably well." He chuckled. "Pat's better at the corporate kind, I'm better with numbers under about seven million. Does that mean I can stay?" "I'd love you to." -- End: Live and Learn 02 ... 1/1 by Rauhnee Ranshanka GateKat@TransFur.com http://www.gatekat.net/Rauhnee/index.html ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Subject: [SWATKats_FanFic] Digest Number 53 Date: 27 Jul 2000 10:53:06 -0000 From: SWATKats_FanFic@egroups.com To: SWATKats_FanFic@egroups.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ/ Rules: http://www.gatekat.net/Lists/SWATKats/Nexus.html MKC BlackNet: http://www.gatekat.net/BlackNet/index.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There is 1 message in this issue. Added thanks to Bast for the betas from here on out. Summary: Rem studies, Jake helps, lunch and they talk. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jake gave up his BlackNet search at Jeremy's third hissing snarl and walked over to where the frustrated tom was glowering at a textbook, workbook and three tabs of accounting paper on Pakitra's polished granite and hardwood dining room table. "Let me help," he crooned, touching his shoulder. "Okay, okay." He ground out. "I'm not getting this." "So what is this?" Jake pulled a chair over so their shoulders nearly touched. Jeremy looked up, startled. "I thought you knew this crap?" "It's accounting," Jake flicked his gaze to the textbook. "First course. I took it three years ago, seriously dull, Pat had hell with it. I was asking what part has you pissed." "All of it!" He slammed his fist and pencil down, snapping it between his fingers. "I don't *get* it. I did what they said and it's not *right*." He took a breath and nearly sobbed. "I have to get a good grade in this one. *Have* to." "Rem," he spoke soothingly, gently rubbing his knuckles along the side of his dark neck. "Accounting is about meticulously obsessive hunting and very good eyes. 99.9% of us are crappy at it, the rest make a lot of money on it." "How's that supposed to help?" "Perspective." Jake took a breath. "Rem, com'on, focus on me for a minute." He pulled the panther in for a series of quick, soft kisses and rubbed his chest with his free hand until he felt the big tom relaxing. "Let it go. We'll get through it." Jeremy closed his eyes and sighed, then clenched his jaw and turned back to his studies. "Okay. What's screwed up with this thing?" ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jeremy started dumbly at his homework; complete, correct and finished without Jake having written a single number. "I'm calling a break." He finally spoke up and started piling the books together and out of the way. "Hungry." Jake stretched with a yawn. "Sounds good to me. Pat's always got a well-stocked kitchen. Anything you like?" "Jake, I'm a starving collage student. I'll eat anything." He rolled his eyes and grumbled. "Fine, anything you *won't* eat?" "Don't think so." He rose to follow his mate into the bright kitchen. "Okay. Sit down, stay out the of the way and I'll fix up something good." Jake quickly pulled food and supplies from the cupboards. "Uhh, Jake, really, I can scavenge my own chow." Jeremy stood at the door and immediately regretted his statement as his mate froze and looked at him, the hurt clearly written on his face. "I like to cook ..." he recovered his composure quickly and stepped out of the way, his voice several degrees cooler. "Come get your meal first then. Mine'll take a little while." "Damn," he hissed at himself and curled up on a stool in one corner. "I didn't mean it like that. Cook what you want for us, okay?" Jake shifted to the refrigerator to continue his ingredients gathering and asked quietly. "Then what did you mean?" "That you didn't have to *bother* cooking for me." Jeremy watched the shifting body refuse to respond to his statement. "I've never even *heard* of anyone that *likes* to cook, just those that sort of feel obliged to." "I offered to cook, what do my reasons matter?" His voice was still chilled. "Because I don't want you to feel *obliged* to do things for me, okay?" He couldn't take the bite from his words. "It just becomes resentment." Jake let go of his tension at that. "Yah, I guess so." He twisted to lean against the counter, facing the striped panther across the room. "Jeremy. Understand this: I don't do *anything* because I feel obliged to. I'll do it because I like to, because I want to make someone happy, because it will bring me satisfaction. This fell under all three." He snapped his head up, focusing on his new mate. "I like to cook, and I'm pretty good at it." Jake continued, not quite looking at him. "I know you don't get to eat good cooking very often, that you barely get to even eat out. I figured you might enjoy a good meal and it was convenient to offer it to you." He crossed the room in a few paces and took Jeremy's face in his hands, stroking it with his thumbs. "It's very satisfying, enjoyable, to see my work appreciated, especially by someone I love." Jeremy swallowed hard. "You ... au ... watching me eat ... means something?" Jake nodded. "I wish Pat had taken a photo last night when you were eating the nachos. I swear you looked like you were in heaven, even with all the stress. I've seen what you usually eat. It ... didn't take much to figure out you appreciate good food and don't get much of a chance at it." Jeremy shook his head in frustration and growled to himself. "I've *got* to learn." He leaned forwarded to kiss Jake softly. "You cook, I'll appreciate and try to remember this isn't because you want something from me, okay?" "Okay." He nodded and turned back to his preparations. "But I *do* want something from you." Jake smiled over his shoulder while mixing ingredients. "I want to see that look on your face again." "But you'd have that whether you wanted it or not." Jeremy smiled back. -- End: Live and Learn 003 ... 1/1 by Rauhnee Ranshanka GateKat@TransFur.com http://www.gatekat.net/Rauhnee/index.html ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Subject: [SWATKats_FanFic] Digest Number 54 Date: 28 Jul 2000 10:48:33 -0000 From: SWATKats_FanFic@egroups.com To: SWATKats_FanFic@egroups.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ/ Rules: http://www.gatekat.net/Lists/SWATKats/Nexus.html MKC BlackNet: http://www.gatekat.net/BlackNet/index.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There is 1 message in this issue. Summary: Rem designs a gift for Jake/ Pat's 8th anniversary. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Hi, Tammy." Jeremy smiled hopefully at the gray tabby fem in the huge main library. "Jer'my!" She grinned happily and put her book down. "Nice 'see you com'p for a'r." He dropped into the chair next to her. "Yah, he's pretty amazing. I was hoping you'd know some stuff. I want to make an anniversary gift for him and his LifeMate, something special." "Well, lik'w't?" She leaned back and watched him vacillate between nervous and excited. "Family portrait, of sorts." He didn't meet her curious eyes. "I've got pictures of each of them, but ... well I need some research done." "Sp't't. I'll find." She snorted. "You're *too* wou'd up to di'ny." Jeremy nodded gratefully. "I want to put them in traditional dress, but I can't find some of it." He pulled out two photographs. "Jake's happy to talk about his family history. They're from the Cha'K'chin Clans in northern Endurik, but he doesn't know much about it, just the more notable members and some traditions. High Lady Rilka is the only reliable name for finding the *right* clan, she's his direct ancestor about thirty generations back. I need to know what a chieftain or prince type would dress like." "What era?" "Umm, the one he'd look best in? Or when the clan was at the height of its power. He's a warrior ... I don't want ..." "Got't. E'sy." She nodded. "Who?" Tammy pulled the photo of a steel point Siamese fem. "I know a kimono, but ... well I have no idea what one actually *looks* like when worn." "I'll get it." She stood, "c'n I have her ph'to for ref'nce?" "Sure," he rose with her and kissed her forehead. "Thanks." "One'th'g." She touched his arm. "I get to *see* f'rst." "Deal." He nodded without hesitation. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Good, I need to wrap it soon." Jeremy smiled as he let Tammy into his small room. "Beautiful." She regarded the five by four foot simple wood framed image of five Kats and a Husky Kantin fem. "Spl'ain? Siz'ing odd." "It's pure symbology." He brushed his hands over the central two figures. "Jake and Pakitra are the LifeMates, the center of the family. They are the most important members. Samantha," he indicated the Husky standing to Pakitra's left, "and I are their primary secondary mates. We're standing further back, smaller, because we're not as important to the whole." "Wait ..." "Tammy, I'm his mate of two months. She's been his *LifeMate* for eight years now. I'd be a fool to think I was as important as her." He caught her expression. "Tammy, it's not like that. I'm worthy of him and my place with him, but you can't think a mate is as important as a LifeMate." "'K'y." She nodded. "Who are these?" She pointed at the steelpoint Siamese fem and a longfured gray on gray swirl-tabby tom even further in the background on Samantha's left. "That's Tessy and Longin, Pakitra's other two mates." He smiled at his creation. "This truly is one of my best pieces." "'Cause you di't love." She smiled. "Wha's this design? Noth'n I brought." She traced the intricate granite-blue design of stars, crosses and braids connecting the cupped hands of the figures. "It's a Kelt Knot of sorts. It's from none of our pasts, but it represents things fairly well." He shook his head. "It just seemed right to the design. All interdependent for the full effect but each beautiful and strong on our own, and expandable as life changes without destroying what's there." "You've grown." She murmured. "Jake's b'n very good f'r'u." "Yes, he has." Jeremy ran light fingertip over the glass covering Jake's smiling face and drew a deep breath to break the spell. "Help me wrap it?" "'Corse." +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jake answered the hesitant knock on Pakitra's apartment door, brightening when he saw Jeremy standing there with a huge flat gift-wrapped package to one side. "I wanted to give you your anniversary gift." He hesitated. "Okay timing?" "Fine timing." Jake stepped aside. "Come in." "Hi, Jeremy." Pakitra greeted him as Jake stole a quick kiss. "Want to put that on the table?" "That'd be good. It's kind of fragile." He maneuvered the awkward package to lie face down on the large table, but couldn't quite make himself face the pair. "It's for both of you ... I drew it ... to represent what I see in you, and the family you've built." Jake walked almost reverently to the table where Pakitra was carefully removing the tape from the wrapping. When the folded paper was stretched out to show the back of a simple frame she shifted her grip to bring it around, and froze at the sharp intake of breath across from her. "Jake?" Jeremy gave his mate's shocked but otherwise unreadable face one look before helping Pakitra lower the picture to the table, image side up. "It's beautiful." Her voice was soft, honest and impressed. "You're very good." "Ththank you." He sort of bowed before returning his full focus to Jake, who hadn't shifted a whisker, staring at his likeliness in a brilliant crimson and blue knee length split-skirt and silver armbands. "Jake?" "Rem ..." his voice was whisper-quiet, and husky with emotion. "How ..." he finally look up, his eyes an amber whirlpool. "How did ..." he swallowed hard, closed his eyes and tried again. "Why did you dress me like that?" Jeremy glanced at Pakitra, not at all comforted that she seemed as stunned by her LifeMate's reaction as he was, and hoped he wanted the literal truth. "I knew you were Cha'K'chin, a descendant of High Lady Rilka. I asked Tammy to find out what an appropriate traditional dress would be; what a warrior-noble would wear as finery at the height of your clan's power." He swallowed as tears formed in his mate's eyes but didn't fall. "She came back with three patterns and that there wasn't a dress code per se ... I took some artistic liberty with the one I liked best ... changed the colors ..." He trailed off as Jake's gaze returned to the image and shifted to embrace his mate. "Jake? You okay?" "Yah," his voice was thick with unshed tears. "You ..." he twisted in Jeremy's arms and pulled him tight into a hard, desperate kiss. "Thank you." He stepped back and glanced at the image once more, then at Pakitra. "Thank you." "You're welcome," Jeremy nodded uncertainly. "I'm glad you ... like it." "Very much. It's very beautiful, very appropriate." He assured softly. "I didn't even know you were an artist too." "I ... haven't had much time for it lately." Jeremy admitted uneasily and turned to show himself out. "I'll ... leave you to your anniversary celebration. I'm glad I did something ... special ... for you." "Rem ... wait." Jake twisted to catching him, throwing his arms around the startled panther's neck and hauling him down for another kiss of thanks, this one softer and locked eyes with his mate. "Thank you. It means a great deal to me." Jeremy nodded. "Not going to tell me why though?" Jake shook his head. "No words for it. Just ... very special. Okay?" "Always." Jeremy licked his forehead. "I'll see you Wednesday night?" "Baring a world disaster." He smiled confirmation. Pakitra waited patiently for Jeremy to close the door and Jake to lock it again before she all but pounced on him. "Explain." "It hit me." Jake shrugged, still off balance. "Obviously, why?" She growled. "Just ..." "Bullshit. What did you see?" He walked back to the picture, tracing fingers over his image and refused to look at her. "My soul, Pat. He captured my soul." -- End: Live and Learn 004 ... 1/1 by Rauhnee Ranshanka GateKat@TransFur.com http://www.gatekat.net/Rauhnee/index.html ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Subject: [SWATKats_FanFic] Digest Number 55 Date: 29 Jul 2000 09:49:21 -0000 From: SWATKats_FanFic@egroups.com To: SWATKats_FanFic@egroups.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ/ Rules: http://www.gatekat.net/Lists/SWATKats/Nexus.html MKC BlackNet: http://www.gatekat.net/BlackNet/index.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There is 1 message in this issue. Summary: A speeding ticket leads to some revelations for Jeremy, and a still disturbed Jake. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jake scratched for admittance at Jeremy's door Wednesday night, half and hour early and still a little shaken. "Coming!" The deep, frustrated growl and heavy steps proceeded the door being yanked open hard. "Oh," he forcibly centered himself. "Come in, Jake. I ... it's been a bad day." "Noticeably." He squished the urge to bolt and stepped in, letting the door shut. "What gives?" "What else? Money." Jeremy finally managed to force himself to calm down and shook his head. "It's nothing for you to worry about." "Rem ..." his voice took on a warning tone. "Don't start that. What happened?" The panther stared at his lanky mate for a long time before dropping his shoulders in surrender. "Speeding ticket and car's toasted." "That all?" "Isn't that *enough*?" Jeremy snarled. "Rem," he caught the big tom's jaw, then slid his hand down to stroke his neck. "If you're going to get this wound up about something, let it be something that's *hard* to fix. This isn't." "I don't want charity." He pulled away. "Who said anything about charity?" Jake growled back, crossing his arms over he chest. "You're my mate, I made *some* commitment to your well-being, even if it's not the extent of the one I made to Pat." "But ..." Jake flattened his ears. "Do you have *any* idea how unpleasant you are to be around when you're stressing?" Jeremy look away, slightly deflated. "Yah." Jake closed the distance between them. "It's well worth a few thousand dollars to see you in a decent mood." "Few *thousand*?" Jeremy almost choked. "You need a new car. If I'm buying it, you're going to at least get a *good* one, that is if I can't talk you into a bike." He smiled seductively. "You'd look incredibly sexy on a bike and leather." "Jake ... I can't ..." He tried not to melt at the open desire on his mate's face. "Why?" Jake crooned. "That much ..." "Rem," Jake forced the other to look him in the face. "It's not much for me. I just got a one point two million dollar paycheck in. I'll see half that much again in four months from IsharTech alone." Jeremy didn't even try to stop himself from dropping almost straight down, jarring both of them when he landed on the bed's edge and stared, numb. "Rem?" "How?" His voice was whisper-quite, stunned. "I draw vehicle and weapons designs, fighter jets, tanks, ATV's." Jake sat down next to him. "After some of my early stuff was produced by PumaDyne, and the world got to see what I could do, my name made them worth more. I sell one or two a year, or as I see a need." Jeremy stared down at him, completely bewildered. "*Why* are you *here*?" "They have a good computer program, and it's close to home." Jake shrugged. "I don't need the degrees, I just like to learn." "Oh," he sank into himself, focused on his hands and tried not to think. "Rem?" He slid his head down, bringing both hands over his head until he was nearly folded in half. "Why the hell are you *here*?" "I ..." he hesitated, remembering something Pakitra had lectured him on and took a deep breath. "Because I love you." Jeremy froze, then looked up slowly. "You ..." Jake sighed and leaned in for a tender kiss, "I love you. That's why I'm here, why I want you to be happy, why I enjoy sleeping with you, why I don't just walk away when you get like this. It's why it gives *me* pleasure to see you happy." "So what do you want of me?" He asked uncertainly. Jake tried not to roll his eyes. "What you give me, though I could stand with less guilt." "I ..." He leaned back and regarded the panther sadly. "Jeremy, you want a list? Okay. I want your affection, your company, your happiness. I want the feeling you give me when I've inspired you to create something beautiful." He swallowed hard, "and that's worth a car ..." "Don't bring money into this, please." Jake closed his eyes. "You knew before you even met Pat that I had more resources than you, and that I didn't care. Does it really make that big a difference on the how much?" "No, but it doesn't help sometimes." He laid down against his mate and tried to comfort him with caresses and murmured. "It's hard to leave all my past." Jeremy sighed. "I have to remember that not *everyone* wants something from me for their 'kindness'. Or at least something I don't give anyway." He added at Jake's slight increased tension. "Like me cooking for you?" "Yah, like you cooking." He nuzzled the cinnamon neck. "I'm not doing very well, am I?" "Rem," he twisted to face him curling to mold his body against the panther's. "Nobody's perfect. It'd be nice if you didn't flip out on me like this, but I'm hardly going to leave you for it. It's not like you do it a *lot*." "Still too much." He carefully began to groom Jake's hair and upper face. "I do love you." Jake shivered and sighed, relaxing almost completely with his eyes closed as a shallow purr rumbled from his throat. "How bout we just lounge around the bed tonight," Jeremy purred, the fists around his heart finally loosening first the first time since he presented his gift. "Go shopping tomorrow." Jake muttered, already half asleep. "Sure," he embraced his mate and whispered. He waited until they were close together before continuing. "I ... I was hoping you'd be willing to help me out, with a gift for Jake." "Of course, what kind of help do you need?" She cocked her head, openly curious. "Umm, well, information." He fidgeted at the break. "I want to do something special for him for our three-month, but I want it to be a ... real surprise." "And you figure he's told me more fantasies than you." She grinned devilishly. "Come by my place after your classes. We'll plan it." "What about Jake?" "What about him?" She flicked her slender tail up. "Umm, he shouldn't *know*." "Oh, he's got his head buried in his Hanger." She shrugged. "He won't look up till the alarm goes off tomorrow afternoon." "Oh," he nodded. "I'll see you at ten then." "I'll be ready." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Doctor, I hope for your sake you have good news for me." A slender, ebony furred tomkat spoke eloquently from behind his wide desk. "Yes, Mr. Dyne." The older orange tabby inclined his head. "Very good news. The process is ready for final field testing. We only need a target and order." "Are you *certain* it is prepared?" His voice was cold as steel. "Yes, sir." He nodded. "Very well. When the signal is transmitted Jeremy Darkeye will assault and badly injure his mate at first opportunity. Then Sander Feral must assassinate him with a specific rifle. Within twelve hours, *he* must die of a heart attack." The ebony Kat instructed. "Understood?" "On the signal, Jeremy Darkeye will assault his mate," the tabby swallowed hard. "Then Commander Feral will kill him, and die of a heart attach. Presumably before the investigation gets anywhere." "Good, dismissed." The tabby doctor wasted no time in disappearing. "Sir," a low male voice asked from the shadows when they were alone again. "Is that wise? Your son-in-law's mate and The *Commander*?" "It is necessary. Sander must die at a particular time for Ulysses to be promoted too inexperienced to stop us. Jake must enter the Enforcers." "Sir?" "Shut up, Kindo." He ordered. "It's too complicated for you." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jeremy nervously knocked on Pakitra's door as the sun cast crimson spires through the blue sky. He'd almost gotten his breathing back under control when she answered it, smiling. "Perfect timing." She stepped out of the way and locked the door behind him. "Chow's ready and so are my notes." Jeremy nodded and bit back a comment about not needing to feed him. "Sit, eat, let's get started." She dropped easily into her favored chair at the marble table, grabbed a handful of apple slices, and waited for him to do the same. "Anything he's hinted at that you're particularly interested in?" Jeremy could only shake his head. "I'll willing to try just about anything, but it's be best if it's something I don't have to practice to get right." "Okay, simple basics." She snagged a slice of jerky and cheese wedge. "You two okay with him handcuffed?" "It's gone well so far." He hedged slightly. She gave him a sharp look but went on. "Get him to bed, get his permission, cuff him, blindfold him. Tie his feet if that works for you two." She smiled. "Gather every shred of patience you have and groom him, pet him, touch him in every caring way you can think of. Suck him off and snuggle and caress him until he's hard again. When he asks to mounted, however he words it, give it to him the way he asks for. It'll probably be hard and fast." "Just what is that a fantasy of?" Pakitra didn't meet his gaze. Tammy smiled at Pakitra as they watched Jake and Jeremy race ahead to take in the sights of the MKC Summer Fair with the wide-eyed wonder of a couple kittens. "First time for both of them." Pat chuckled back and hugged Samantha closer. "I don't think I've ever seem him this *happy*. Sure as hell never seem him this social." "*I* don't'nk I've see'm so *relax'd*." "Not at all," can the still stunned reply. "That's three times in three months, though. Nada before that." "Thy'r good fur 'chuther." She remembered the cone in her hand and licked up the dripping ice cream. "How'u getting 'long wit'it?" "Pretty good," she smiled and squeezed Samantha again. "I have more time for my mates. He's less stressed so the time we do have is better. And well, how can I resent *that*?" She motioned at the nearly ecstatic pair ahead of them, where it looked like Jake was trying to talk Jeremy into an earring as the females strolled up. "But you'd look stunning," Jake purred deep in his throat, obviously intent on winning by any means necessary. "I don't have pierced ears, or anything else." Jeremy was obviously on his last legs of resistance. "That's easily fixed." Came with open, begging eyes. "And it doesn't hurt much these days." "Not like when *he* got'm pieced," Pakitra broke in with a grin. "Claws are not fun." "You're not helping here," Jeremy growled at her without any anger. "I'm not supposed to," She snickered back. "I'm the other female." Samantha snorted at that. "He's right though. You *would* look stunning in silver rings and leather, especially on your bike." She cocked her head, surveying the strongly build black tom. "Perhaps a spiked collar?" "Whose side are you on?" He flattened his ears as Jake's perked up in real consideration. "Hers." Samantha pointed at her silver-white Mate. "And she's on mine," Jake grinned. "Most of the time." He added with a sideways smile at Pakitra. Jeremy sighed and turned to his mate. "Jake, look, it's lovely, and I guess I would look good with it, but I am *not* getting my ear pierced. Or anything *else*." He tried for the straightforward honesty he saw Pakitra use on Jake so often with success. "Oh," the cinnamon tom's disappointment was clear as he nodded. "Is it the decoration or the piercing that's the problem?" "Piercing." He confirmed quickly. "I've got enough scars without adding to them voluntarily." "Okay." Jake turned back to the jewelry selection, returning the one he had and quickly snagging two others to Jeremy's dismay. "These don't require holes, just strong ears." "Okay," Jeremy regarded him warily, then obligingly lowered his head for his mate to attach the shining silver bands. "There," Jake stepped away, watching with nearly open lust glittering in his eyes. "*Nice*." Tammy rumbled approval. Jeremy remained silent as he watched himself in the small mirror, taking in the effect of the etched silver bands against the black fur of his inner ear and finally sighed. "When are you going to be *wrong* about something?" "You'll wear?" Jake purred hopefully, his tail twitching in time to his excited heart. "Yah, I'll wear it," he couldn't stop his smile at the sheer delight on his mate's face. "Maybe not in class, but mmmph ...." Jeremy didn't even try to resist when Jake took advantage of his open mouth to deepen the kiss almost immediately to an indecent level. Both toms simply ignored their appreciative female audience and the camera clicks as well until Jake let go with a parting peck and turned to the booth's proprietor to pay. "You're letting'm ..." Tammy whispered close to Jeremy's ear. "I'm ... learning, Tammy." He looked at his mate's back and touched his new ear clips with a soft smile. "I'm learning." "Then'ur' doing good job of'it." She patted his back and stepped back to the other two fems. "Who's up'fur lunch?" "I am," Jake got in first as he turned with a wide, hungry grin for his mate. "You're not getting *that* kind of meal here." Jeremy warned with as much conviction as he could muster to the delight laughter of the females in the party. "*I* meant junk food and 'both know't." Tammy huffed, waving in the general direction of the food court at the end of the isle of stalls. "Good timing. I see Tes and Longin." Pakitra grinned and took off for the smells of grease, fried food and her remaining mates, confident that everyone would follower her shortly. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Now where?" Tammy grinned at the unstoppable antics of the boys as the group finished eating. "The games," Jeremy popped in immediately and turned to waggle his finger at Jake's nose. "Prove you're a sureshot, win me one of the giant stuffed lions." Jake and Pakitra exchanged amused glances. "Sounds fun." "I haven't been banned from the games in a few years." She added, upping it to a dare. "Banned?" Tammy and Jeremy asked in unison, staring at the LifeMates in disbelief. "We're *too* good a shot." Pakitra shrugged. "They don't throw us out literally or anything violent, but I can usually scare them to the point of not letting me play in a couple hours." "Get some interesting prizes out of it too." Jake added. "This I got to watch," Longin grinned with real respect for his mate. "That's good," Samantha interjected. "If it's anything like last time, we'll need everybody to haul the goodies away." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Sir, you may not play again." The middle-aged keeper of the game stall informed Jake politely as he tried to pay for another game. "Neither can your lady-friend." He nodded at Pakitra. "That was quick." She muttered wistfully. "Maybe they remember you." Samantha chuckled. "Probably," Jake surveyed their winnings. "Still kind of fun though." "Let's get this stuff back to the cars and head for the rides." Jeremy grabbed his share of the load. "Oh, yah." Tessy cheered. "*Can't* forget the rides." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "I'm beat." Pakitra tried not to drag her feet to the cars after hitting every ride in the park at least three times. "Gods, those two must be trying for some kind of record." Samantha said with a mixture of awe and disbelief. "We are not." Jake hissed, indignant. "Jake, y'u'two made out on *every* ride." Tammy corrected him. "Young love," Pakitra chuckled, crooning affectionately. "Ain't it grand?" "I'm not that young." Jeremy grumbled. "You're acting like it." Samantha countered, smiling. "Not like it isn't fun to watch." "Though with tha'much of a pre-show, we'shou'd get to watch th'rest." Tammy teased. "NO!" Jake's ferocity surprised every but Pakitra. Even Jeremy jumped. "*That* sounded more like my LifeMate." She nodded. "Nice to know he's not completely gone." "Not gone," Jake growled, his mood visibly degraded. "Just having too good a time to care for a while. Should have known it couldn't last." -- End: Live and Learn 007 ... 1/1 by Rauhnee Ranshanka GateKat@TransFur.com http://www.gatekat.net/Rauhnee/index.html ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________
