I'm happy to say that "A Wolf in the Fold" is nearly complete. I've decided that this story has deserved more of an R rating, as NC-17 is more for the heavy-duty sex stuff. "A Wolf in the Fold", due to the opening sequences, would make you think that the pack would have more of an appearance, but to explain NOW, before the story is out, the pack is only there to make one appearance. Anyone who wants the pack to make a come-back, well, e-mail me. Surprisingly, I've gotten several e-mails from people asking about Vachon, and what takes place after "Queen of Rain". Vachon is supposedly still around, though his life is under constant strain. When you're a hermaphrodidic used-to-be shapeshifter, everyones ready to tear you to pieces. Vash might make a comeback, but I'm not sure. He's really a very cynical and none-too-happy character. However, there will be a story detailing the reprecussions of Felina's stay in the fox's basement called "Ravine". It'll be short, but it'll hopefully answer some questions. Anyone who wants Vachon's character profile, e-mail me. I'd be more than happy to give you a background. One question that kind of struck me, though, is if Felina were pregnant from the encounter with Vash. The answer to that is no. Vash is sterile because of his deformity. He cannot reproduce. One thing in Vachon's past was his intense love for children; to take away his ability to have kits of his own is a more personal strike that those of his race made against him. So no, Felina wont be having foxkits :). "PsychDrama" is being changed to "Exorcism". It involved Jake and Chance, for once, and their relationship . It follows in the footsteps of "Queen of Rain" as far as a character story goes. The rating will be PG-13, and probobly sit as one of my less disturbing pieces. I'm going to try to make it as in-depth as possible without getting too naughty. Also, watch out for my fan art :). I FINALLY have a pic of Felina scanned, and I'll be getting the ones of Jake down soon...hopefully. Anyway, I'm gonna cut out. I've said too much already :). -Ashrin This message sent from The Net BBS 608-221-5702. The three CN based comics will be "The Flinstones and The Jetsons", "Scooby-Doo", and "Cartoon Network Presents" "Cartoon Network Presents" is of interest because it will have a rotating line-up of "Space Ghost:Coast to Coast", "Dexter's Laboratory", "Cartoon Network Classics", "Dial 'M' for Monkey", and a fifth title not yet announced. (I'm tying this to Kats now...) What I'm proposing is that we could get a letter writing campaign (snail-mail as well as e-mail) together in order to get the SWAT Kats to be part of the "Cartoon Network Presents" line-up or, even better, get them thier own comic. I'm happy to say that I've FINALLY gotten "Exorcism" underway, and for all you archivers and readers, part 1 is finished and ready to be archived. Expect to be a bit confused...it's meant to do that for now. For those of you who want it, here's the synopsis. "Exorcism": It's almost Christmas. Both Jake and Chance are ready to face the holiday with some cheer, knowing that after Christmas is the start of a whole new year. While Christmas Shopping, however, Jake finds someone who isn't supposed to be back...not yet...not now...and he'd just gotten over that piece of his past... Also, there's another story I wrote completely on whim, which is "Uncleanly Bonds", a story which, actually, is simply just sex with some emotional connotations. Nothing major, but some people might like it for the emotional content..or what have you. Anyway, I WONT be archiving it at ALL. I simply refuse, because, well, I doubt anyone would have the balls to archive it, and/or simply wouldn't allow it. Therefor, I'm saving us both the trouble of keeping it to a 'get it through me' distribution process. "A Wolf in the Fold" is also nearly complete. It's slowly being brought towards an end I never really expected it to have, but it's there. Again, for those of you who want a synopsis... "A Wolf in the Fold": Felina and three other officers are sent out to infiltrate an orginization known as the underground. Along the way, they meet a band of four strangers who ask for a ride out of the city. What Felina doesn't know about these four may change her life forever... Also, now that I'm nearly finished with that, and my backlog is almost clean, I'll have time to start working on a couple other projects. After watching him expertly dodge her vertigo beam, which so far had diabled any and all approaching aircraft, including a passenger jet who, by the grace of the Swat Kats was saved. She demanded some unconcievable amount of money from Megakat City for use of the (her) air space. Turmoil was so impressed by T-Bone's flying that she ordered The Turbokat captured intact and a tractor beam was emitted from her vast, floating complex. Once T-Bone realized that they couldn't break away from the tractor beam alive, He shut off the engines and looked back at Razor. Razor was G'd out. It had been a tough ride. "Buddy, Theres no reason we should both be captured, I'm going in". T-Bone hit the rear seat ejector button. "The cold air will wake him up". Anyway T-Bone accepted Turmoil's generous offer of power and wealth (or so she thought). One of my favorite Swat Kat lines is where T-Bone mutters to himself..."I hate to have to take her in...she is kinda cool, in a bad sorta way". Anyway he kisses her ( T-Bone is so cool ) and hell breaks loose and T-Bone kicks Razor in the butt (apologizes later). And they defeat Turmoil and delliver her (successfully) to the authorities. Turmoil recieves a "Dear John" letter from T-Bone while she's in jail. Another apisode about her has been written but never materialized for some unacceptable reason. Fight. Briggs is one sexy Kat. The brains and the brawn behind Mega Kat City govt. "Mayor Manx hasn't done an ounce of paperwork in this office for years!" She is definately one of the "good ones", in fact, the only one with a direct line to the Swat Kats. Lt. Felina Feral is Commander Feral's neice. "I'd take her off the force, but my brother would never speak to me again". ( A Bright And Shiny Future). She is probably the best enforcer on the force. T-Bone called her "One stubborn she-kat" (Caverns of Horror). She is 100 % behind the Swat Kats and occaisionally accompanmies them on their missions. She's also one of T-Bones lovers from time to time. KATS RULE Aiv, I'm a new SK fan too. I am glad there and more of us. I am preparing an awesome SK site. W/B & I'll keep you posted. The show was more than a little inconsistent on thre presentation of Feral's character. He had 3 sides: 1. The "malicious" Feral, obviously of Tremblay Bros. origin as the first dezign of his character. In the first previews of the show he was described as a "power hungry" mongol of sorts, not concerned about how many kats he had to step on to look good. The first episode made was "The Pastmaster Rings Twice" (though "The Giant Bacteria" was first aired), which is really the only episode true to the above statements. In it Feral is almost obnoxious and stupid in his commanding attempts, refusing help from Dr. Sinian concerning the megasaur and acting more stubborn than usual. He wasn't really very good at his job, and mean about it, too. The only other place in the series where he holds true to this is the flashback *only* in "Wrath of Dark Kat," when he kicks Jake and Chance more than unfairly out of the enforcers. But the rest of the episode he is a changed the kat (see below, number 2); maybe he's matured over the years. There *was* another place for this character, in season 2's "Cry Turmoil" original script, where he was to be embarrased so much by the SKs that he would actually join up (not faking) with Turmoil and try to take over the city. This was later ditched by H-B executes who wanted to center more on T-Bone and Razor. So nothing's canon because it was never made. 2. The "by-the-book" Feral, who appeared in just about every other episode. Sure, we know he personally hates the SWAT Kats and maybe defies a little logic in his attempts to catch and persecute them, but aside from that there's mainly good intentions behind his actions. After all, the SWAT Kats *do* cause a lot of damage, and he's usually concerned about the safety of the katizens of the city because of them. The only time he really tries to catch them as criminals more than vigilante misfits is in "Night of Dark Kat," where they've been framed anyway and no one trusts them, when as far as anyone's concerned, he's just bringing some rotten villains to justice. That and citizen safety are mainly what he cares about. Fanfiction authors, especially Jade Callan, are really the only ones that give him credit sometimes (and sometimes we don't). 3. The "softie/honor" Feral, again matching up with number 2 and not number 1. He *does* care, especially about Felina. And, as scene in the ending of "Metal Urgency", he has a tremendous sense of honor -- he would rather have Mac and Molly turned in than find the SWAT Kats. The *real* criminals obviously take priority than a pair of guys who accidently blow up buildings. The Saturday morning showings are still there -- yesterday, for example, my VCR caught the episode "The Giant Bacteria" at 11 am PDT (2 pm EDT). It's possible the schedule may have changed due to our switching over to daylight time last month, but perhaps I'm also grasping at straws here. DJ comments on the many facets of Commander Feral's katsonality: > 1. The "malicious" Feral, obviously of Tremblay Bros. origin as the first > dezign of his character. In the first previews of the show he was described > as a "power hungry" mongol of sorts, not concerned about how many kats he > had to step on to look good. We see part of this in "The Giant Bacteria" as well. Feral decides to fire weapons at one of the bacteria monsters, even *after* both the SWAT Kats *and* Deputy Mayor Briggs advise him not to do so. The result, of course, is that instead of two monsters they now have three to deal with, and Feral loses popularity points with everyone. But in "The Deadly Pyramid" Feral does a quick about-face. When Razor radios the Enforcers to "aim for the eye shields" in the giant kat-mummies, Feral immediately complies, without questioning the advice. Given that the radio transmission was from an outside source (it was prefixed by "Attention Enforcers!"), Feral could have likely guessed that it came from the SWAT Kats. We'd have seen more of Feral's character in "Cry Turmoil" had the episode been aired originally as written. In the original premise, Feral, not T-Bone, is seduced by Turmoil. During the episode, Feral is genuinely tempted to turn against the Enforcers -- the very team he commands -- and join Turmoil's side (see the episode guide on http://www.swatkats.com for details). However, Feral doesn't even appear in the final version of this episode, so this part of Feral's character doesn't really get developed. ------------------------------ From: Dana Uehara Date: Sun, 27 Apr 1997 13:39:00 -0700 Subject: Where are the SWAT Kats? The last one was really hard to see, but seemed to prevail throughout the whole series. I think he might actually like the SWAT Kats, but is really ashamed about it because I think he thinks it would clash with his character. He might even know who the SWAT Kats are, but yet let them go for some unexplained reason. Of course we all know Callie runs the city, but Manx is the *mayor* after all. Manx is a chicken, but he isn't completely stupid. He had to own a few brain cells in order to get elected mayor the first time (which means that he may have held some other post before, such as deputy mayor). General audiences (hey, it *was* a rather violent show) - extremely minor cursing - extremely hidden or just inferred sex - normal violence levels R : - repeated cursing - undescribed sex - above-normal violence levels NC-17 - "Pulp Fiction" cursing, combined with another element - desribed sex ("erotica") - homosexuality - sever violence/violence of sexual manner (rape, etc) NOT SUITABLE - incest - anything in the NC-17 catagory that is not handled maturely Here are our options concerning the archive: 1. Keep it the way it is 2. Move NC-17 Fanfiction down to the bottom of the page in their own, seperate area. (easiest for me!) 3. Move NC-17 Fanfiction to another site altogether, that is linked to the main site. 4. Get rid of it altogether (probably won't happen, folks -- I'm against this) I need your imput! Thanks! Still seems as though the first lines of some of the messages posted to the list are getting thrown into the headers, so those of you on the digest may be getting incomplete messages. I'm trying to remedy this as much and as quickly as possible. Under the new TV ratings system, the SWAT Kats are rated Y7 (I assume this means the show isn't recommended for kids under 7 years of age due to its content). Should the "normal" (PG-13) fanfic be rated the same? I also received some email from Foxstar3k9@aol.com saying that they didn't call Feral stupid, just a jerk. (I didn't think the comment itself was worth forwarding to the list because it didn't include any specific quoted text, and was only one line of text.) However, with all due respect I think that comment misses the point that both DJ and I made. We didn't call Feral stupid, but Feral's katsonality *has* been inconsistent. He has a stubborn side, which he's shown consistently when he refuses to listen to the SWAT Kats, but he also has an honorable side when he doesn't listen to Mac and Molly either. Feral had the opportunity to learn who the SWAT Kats were and put them out of commission permanently, but he turned it down. If that doesn't show at least *some* honor on his part, I don't know what does. ------------------------------ End of kats-digest V1 #183 ************************** ----------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Majordomo file: list 'kats-digest' file 'v01.n184' Date: Sat, 23 Aug 1997 06:15:16 -0400 (EDT) From: Majordomo@maxie.com To: GateKat@SWATKats.Net -- From: owner-kats-digest To: kats-digest Subject: kats-digest V1 #184 Reply-To: kats@maxie.com Errors-To: owner-kats-digest Precedence: bulk X-To-Unsubscribe: send the command unsubscribe kats-digest to majordomo@maxie.com kats-digest Wednesday, 30 April 1997 Volume 01 : Number 184 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Paul Kemner Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 07:52:17 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Re: Contraversy on the Fan Fiction Archive On DJ's question about naughty material in the fan fiction archive: First of all, technically "free speech" doesn't apply, since we're talking about a private website "owned" by DJ. She could exclude *anything* she doesn't like, for any reason whatsoever. So if you were unwise enough to write a story denigrating Abi, for instance, she wouldn't have to include it. You can't *force* a newspaper to print your letter, or a radio station to play your song because of your free speech rights. Seperating the NC-17 material is a good idea for a couple of reasons. 1- The most obvious is that you don't want kiddies to accidentally stumble onto an erotic S&M story involving Callie, Burke, and Murray. Moving it shows that at least you tried to make a good faith effort to keep this from happening. And you don't want anti-porn filter programs at libraries or at home to exclude the kats pages! 2- Even some adults may find this stuff distasteful, so having it seperate reduces the chance that the first story someone reads might be something that will turn them off. 2a- Suppose someone in Warner programming is looking into making more kats, and they check out websites to see what the following of the show is. If the first story they see is the aforementioned Callie, etc. one, they may decide that the fans are not related to a possible target audience. (i.e. they'll decide we're all pretty sick puppies). So I think a seperate linked site would be best, and a seperate area would be 2nd best, but that's just my opinion. =^^= Paul Kemner ------------------------------ From: djclawson@garden.net (DJ Clawson) Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 21:15:02 -0400 Subject: Re: Kat ratings e. > >Under the new TV ratings system, the SWAT Kats are rated Y7 (I assume this >means the show isn't recommended for kids under 7 years of age due to its >content). Should the "normal" (PG-13) fanfic be rated the same? I think the TV rating systems is absolutely ridiculous. I can see the point of "advising parental discretion" for shows like "Millenium" but most people could care less about whether a kid is 7 or 8 when he watches a cartoon show. I think fanfic under R doesn't deserve to be rated. It may *not* be suitable for extremely young kids. It might be on the same line as: GI Joe extreme (not quality wize, contentwize, SW is head, shoulders, etc above that one.) That is the ONE thing that appealed to me when I first saw it a long time ago, and since I don't have cable, I miss it....sniff! All I have is a handfull of taped eps and a vivid imagination.
