Well, requiring a login would be a pain for just about everyone and likely put off casual visitors. A guestbook and maybe message board would be good though. A message board might even get some posts, though I seem to remember an earlier one that was nearly deserted. - -- ________________________________________________________ / Michael J. Those of you who've been in the military can probably answer this question better than I can, but what kind of curriculum do you see in the Enforcer Academy? For example, I envision the Academy being open to young kats from age 15 on, requiring a rigorous physical training course (like the obstacle course Jake and Chance used in "Mutation City") and basic weapons and pilot training. Electives might include sports of different types, like volleyball, track and basketball. There'd also be an advanced pilot training course for those with the aptitude and interest for it; and of course, officer training which would lead to a lieutenant (and higher) commission. Exactly where might Jake and Chance have been within this curriculum when Commander Feral? I was watching Inspector Gadget (second season made in 1985) and well, Gadget was a seyance put on by The Great Wambeeni (and The Lesser Whanbeeni) and in walked Brain with a disguise, and he looked EXACTLY like Callie! Every detail except for Brain's nose (and the lens of the glasses were shiny blue) looked just like her! I was just wondering if anyone else has seen SK character look-alikes in other shows or cartoons... even before the creation of SWAT Kats. ____________________________________________________________________ Ryan "T-Bone" Kelley Inspector Gadget Extremist, SWAT Kat Extremist, Sailor Moon megafan, Jesus Freak, Anime fan, all around weirdo, Nothing new! http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/5927/index.htm ____________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------ From: Dana Uehara Date: Wed, 19 Feb 1997 21:14:16 -0500 (EST) Subject: Last rites for the Kats According to at least one web site (sorry, don't have the URL offhand) it looks like Warner Bros' Road Rovers is being axed from the WB cartoon lineup from next year. Significance and relevance to the Kats? Some time ago, chance (Andy Hill, no longer on the list) posted a message that he believed that SWAT Kats wouldn't be a hard sell if Road Rovers succeeded. But if WB is nuking the Rovers, then there's likely no hope for the Kats at all. Apparently people are urging others to write their local stations to revive the Rovers. If it succeeds, then that series may be renewed; and consequently, the Kats (or something similar) might possibly be revived. But right now I think it's a safe bet that the Kats are dead and buried, living now only in reruns and fanfiction. Since Warner and Turner have merged, the Cartoon Network seems to have been showing more and more WB toons. So far, they've shown Animaniacs, Pinky & The Brain and Superman. Personally, I'm waiting to see Road Rovers, followed by SWAT Kats (or vice versa), in the lineup. ;-) On the subject of whether other characters in other series look like the Kats: I think I've got one that's more the other way around. In one episode ("The Giant Bacteria") one of the kats in the background, when Feral is being interviewed about Morbulus, wears a white suit... and for some reason he reminds me of Riff Raff (from the Heathcliff/Cats & Co series). ------------------------------ End of kats-digest V1 #146 ************************** ----------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Majordomo file: list 'kats-digest' file 'v01.n147' Date: Sat, 23 Aug 1997 06:14:41 -0400 (EDT) From: Majordomo@maxie.com To: GateKat@SWATKats.Net -- From: owner-kats-digest To: kats-digest Subject: kats-digest V1 #147 Reply-To: kats Errors-To: owner-kats-digest Precedence: bulk To-Unsubscribe: send the command 'unsubscribe kats-digest' to 'majordomo@maxie.com' kats-digest Friday, 21 February 1997 Volume 01 : Number 147 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Zax Date: Thu, 20 Feb 1997 06:28:15 -0500 (EST) Subject: Re: Last rites for the Kats Not necissarily.(sp) I never did like the RR that much, I didn't think it was very good, too uneven as far as writing goes, too many lame jokes, action sequences not very exicting. That was a rather slim hope there, given the rather dismal qualities (IMHO of course) of Road Rovers vis a vis the Kats. With SK I was hooked with the first ep, while with RR I grew tired after the second. >Apparently people are urging others to write their local stations to revive >the Rovers. (I normally don't bite, so don't be afraid to post.) I *have* had a rather annoying cough for the past week or so, however, so I apologize in advance if I get on anyone's tail. To put it in kat terms, the cough feels like a hairball that can't quite be coughed up. Meantime, I've been working on my home page (http://rat.org/razor), which has a shrunken version of Jake ("jakesg.GIF" from the old rat.org web site) on it. I don't know who did the pic, but I thought it was rather well-done - -- only Jake's fur was the same color as Chance's! (Uh, oops? ;-) Other goodies... a few people have told me I look quite a bit like Razor, so I put my picture side by side with Razor on the web site, so you can decide for yourself. The page itself is still undergoing construction, so it'll be a while before its final version is finished. Even more goodies... I'm currently working on a piece of kat fanfic, in bits and pieces ("Murder on Megakat Ave," a different piece of fanfic, is nowhere near ready to send to anyone, sorry); and it's about 2/3 or so done. I'll either put it on my web site or send it to DJ when I finish it. Enough rambling. I'll shut up now. ------------------------------ From: djclawson@garden.net (DJ Clawson) Date: Sun, 23 Feb 1997 19:59:20 -0500 Subject: Re: >Meantime, I've been working on my home page (http://rat.org/razor), which >has a shrunken version of Jake ("jakesg.GIF" from the old rat.org web site) >on it. I was wondering about you, since you never delivered "Murder..." > Looking forward to it; please try and finish it this time! ACK! Dj, Sorry! i forgot to work on the fanfic! :P.... well, the thing is that i had some friend's request to make a fanfic about the Samurai Pizza cats (d on't laugh) and since he's a fan for te show i'm doing him the favor....besides it's kinda bit refreshing, it's prure nonsense and it cleans up my mind from all the tension i'm getting lately these past few days :) I don'ttghink i'll be working on the SK fanfic until March 15th or 16th, i promised my friend (ok, she's my cousin, so there you have it, see why i had to accept? ;) ) I would have it done by then so she could give it to her net friends and spread it across...well, family is family :). though i have to tell you, it's very refreshin switching froma dark and serious tone to a lighter and sillier one :) I tried adding just a bit to the SK fanfic (slipping away from my promised work) and found myself rather creative :) so i guess switching between moods helps you rest your mind on one mood while you're working on the other...i recommend all fanfic writers to take it as an excercise..and when you are stuck at some point, just take abreak and write the characters doing someyhing silly ,like the Paladin Mooning the King, and who knows, it can end up into the plot..or kill them off ;), in a story, i was stuck and i killed off a character (on another page as a mock-up of the story, to release frustration) and it ended falling into the plot of the character getting severly wounded (not killed) and it helped me move some unanticipated factors :). either way is good, when you can't produce anymore switch to soemthing lighter and have fun with it, you'll end up more refreshed...anyone here of the fanfic writers does something similar? :) (Whew, i REALLY took the long way, didn't i? :P ) ------------------------------ From: razor@netcom.com (Dana Uehara) Date: Tue, 25 Feb 1997 00:57:16 -0500 (EST) Subject: Purring Kats This subject came up once on the list some time ago, but I thought I'd dredge it back up and expand on it a bit. None of the Kats have purred while in the series, although it's entirely possible that they might do so offstage. I read (or heard) somewhere that house cats purr when they *want* attention, such as when they're hungry, etc. Can you imagine *that* applied to the Kats, like kittens mewing *and* purring when they're hungry?
