I assume you mean the people voicing the incidental (one-shot) characters for the first season, as most of the other voices can be figured out by watching the second-season episodes' end credits. Here's what I can recall off the top of my head: T-Bone - Charlie Adler Razor - Barry Gordon Callie Briggs - Tress MacNeille Mayor Manx - Jim Cummings Commander Feral - Gary Owens Felina Feral - Lori Alan Dr. Sinian - Linda Gary Tiger Conklin - Ed Gilbert Ann Gora - Candi Milo Jonny (Ann's camerakat) - Mark Hamill Mutilor - Michael Dorn Traag - Michael Bell Hard Drive - Rob Paulsen Hackle - George Hearn Chopshop/Dr. Greenbox* - Nick Chinlund Turmoil - Kath Soucie Mac Mange - Neil Ross Molly Mange - April Winchell Dark Kat - Brock Peters Doctor Viper - Frank Welker The Pastmaster - Keene Curtis * note: Chinlund voiced Dr. Greenbox only for the episode "Unlikely Alloys". I don't know who voiced him for "Chaos in Crystal". Roddy McDowall supposedly voiced Madkat, but I'm not fully sure about that one. ------------------------------ End of kats-digest V1 #111 ************************** ----------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Majordomo file: list 'kats-digest' file 'v01.n112' Date: Sat, 23 Aug 1997 06:14:06 -0400 (EDT) From: Majordomo@maxie.com To: GateKat@SWATKats.Net -- From: owner-kats-digest To: kats-digest Subject: kats-digest V1 #112 Reply-To: kats Errors-To: owner-kats-digest Precedence: bulk To-Unsubscribe: send the command 'unsubscribe kats-digest' to 'majordomo@maxie.com' kats-digest Thursday, 2 January 1997 Volume 01 : Number 112 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Ryan Kelley Date: Tue, 31 Dec 1996 19:21:10 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: HALLELUIAH!!!!!! >I foinally find out the key to bringing SwatKats back! putting me in charge of TPS(& WB?!)?? >TED TURNER'S SCREEN NAME!!!!!!! As many of you veteran SK mailing list members may remember, quite a ways back I mentioned that I try to keep track of my dreams in a log of some sort & had a dream about the return of SK. Anyways, I had another interesting dream last night. I was in my local "mom 'n pop" computer store buying a $37 3.5" floppy drive. After I made the purchase, I was just wandering around the store looking at stuff on the way to the door. When I got close to the door, I noticed sitting on a shelf a couple of boxes of different SK characters! One of them was Razor sitting on the cyclotron. It was in a yellow box that was glued shut, so I couldn't open it to see inside. There was another one of T-Bone that's a little fuzzy to me & a 3rd that I can't recall at all. The weird thing was that none of the boxes were marked with "SWAT Kats". They were marked with "Attack Kats" & the characters were _very_ similar with just minor differences. It made me think that the Tremblays somehow got around the strangle-hold & copyrights that Turner has on SK to still produce something very close to the original. Anyway, inside were the Carl's Junior toys: "Sock 'em Kats" - T-Bone, entirely yellow because they were too lazy to paint, with arms that swing. "Blaster Chair" - Razor in his ejector seat, with a spring on the bottom so it hops. "Radical Ride" - Razor in the cyclotron, with spinning wheels. "Screamin' Squadron Plane" - A mini Turbokat where if you blow into the engine, it makes a whiste sound. Go figure. The best part was THE MODEL SHEETS! He found them while cleaning out his office and decided to send. Only one of each SK -- T-Bone in that tank top in the scene from "Mutation City" where they left out his stripes, and Razor wearing the flame retardent suit from "Volcanus Erupts!" Tress and him did a ton together -- he was Buster Bunny beside her in "Tiny Toons" and they both worked on a H-B show called "The Flinstone Kids." Tress is pretty good at making herself sound younger for her two Warner characters, and she's okay at shrieking (but I still hate Callie!) Barry, on the other hand, can't seem to do much past his own voice. The most I saw of an effort to sound different was Brainy on "The Smurfs." Not Pulitzer Prize work if you know what I mean, but it has its laughs. Other appearances : The character who did Ann Gora (name escapes me) guest stared as a mosquito lawyer on "San Bugito" or whatever that show was called. She also played (briefly) a -- get this -- giraffe newscaster in a cartoon called "Jungle Boy" that runs on the "What a Cartoon! Show" on TCN. On Charlie Adler, Barry Gordon and Candi Milo (Ann Gora) -- the first time I saw Candi Milo's name was on the end credits of a few Goof Troop episodes. Also, for those of you who may be following Disney's "Mighty Ducks" series, April Winchell (Molly Mange) does one of the characters on there. Going back more on track with Kats stuff... in "Night of the Dark Kat," have you noticed that Jake doesn't jump-start the old lady's car correctly? Many "old-pro" auto mechanics still connect plus-to-plus and minus-to-minus, for the same reason that old scientists often spurn safety glasses. Once you complete the circuit on both terminals, the last connection will produce a spark, and a rather big one at that. The battery reaction produces hydrogen which almost always manages to leak out, and for those of us old enough to remember the Hindenberg, the result is memorable. Thus, the last connection is made to the dead auto's frame. You will still get juice flowing from the live battery to the dead one, but you minimize the risk of a spark. - ------- Dr. Samuel Conway Senior Auto Mechanic Chemist Avid Therapeutics Philadelphia, PA flogistn@nni.com ------------------------------ From: August Yang Date: Fri, 10 Jan 1997 20:43:41 -0500 (EST) Subject: Safty Tip of the Day Regarding Jake's connecting the battery wires incorrectly: If I remember correct, they were using Jake's special "super-charger". This is the reason for putting the + on the battery & the - on a grounding point in the car to be jumped. As far as Warners/Tedco/Swatkats goes, some of you have undoubtedly noticed that CNN now refers to itself as a "Time-Warner Company" rather than something distinctively Turner, and that seems to be de regeur for the rest of the empire as well. Warners is making room for the Hanna-Barbera employees by clearing out whatever remained of the "Space Jam" unit at Sherman Oaks (and Glendale too, I think), but as to what aspects of H-B will go there - or remain there - no one really knows. Warner's furry epic "Road Rovers" is only doing numbers considered "fair" by the Powers That Be in the WB heirarchy, but it seems sufficient for an assured pickup for a further season, in addition to another furry series waiting in the wings for either this fall or next. Unfortunately, it isn't "SwatKats", and to my knowledge there are no plans - even embryonic ones - to Warnerize any of the existing Hanna-Barbera properties for new series. That all could change, and I imagine they'll keep some of those properties "alive" with the occasional made-for-tv special, miniseries or what-have-you, but again, nobody's mentioned the Kats whatsoever. One last note on the "policewoman" originally conceived for the show before the first episode was filmed. Her name was evidently supposed to be "Kathy", and she was supposed to be the Katguys' "in" at Enforcer HQ. I'm not sure whether or not she would be privy to the "real" identities of T-Bone and Razor, but she would've embodied all those attributes we like in the characters of Felina Feral and Callie Briggs; characters that eventually resulted after the "Kathy" concept was discarded in favour of two characters rather than the one. Concept sketches and a character outline exist in the Hanna-Barbera archives for this "policewoman", though I don't currently know anyone over there sufficiently "connected" to get us a copy. Anyway, have fun all those attending CF8 (Dana, say 'hi' to Orwin for me), and keep up the kactivity level. Until then..... meow. I didn't get a chance to meet any fellow list members (or at least I don't *think* I did) other than Doc Konway, but I *did* show up at the felines SIG (special interest group) and managed to vent my frustrations at Ted Turner for having cancelled the series. Doc Konway's story hour was, needless to say, very interesting, although a bit difficult to understand, as he had moved it from what would have been a fairly quiet room to the incredibly noisy lobby. After hearing his story about a burning building, an old lady and a cat named Elvis (I won't go into details, lest I steal his thunder ;-), I thought it'd be amusing to see how someone like Commander Feral might've handled the situation. Knowing Feral, though, I think he'd have delegated responsibility but taken any credit. Didn't see any SWAT Kats stuff at the con, tho I wasn't particularly looking very hard for any. I *did* get to run into a few katfans currently not on this list, including one I was rooming with... who in turn showed me some footage of an airshow he had gone to. While watching the footage I got the feeling that if T-Bone and Razor were to see it, they'd be impressed (Razor moreso than T-Bone because T-Bone already thinks he's an ace pilot!). Some of the planes in the airshow passed each other by what were apparently mere feet -- and in the sky, even a few feet (or meters, if you're on the metric system) can be extremely dangerous, especially if you make a wrong move! For at least a couple of nights or so, I wore a jacket I had slightly altered, using $3 worth of decorative tape, to look like the top of Razor's flightsuit. The jacket served a dual purpose in that it not only helped keep me warm but also helped identify me, sort of. I'll step aside here and let other list members fill in their con experiences. On the administrivia side, and this may sound picky, but... I'm not allowing discussion about SWAT Kats versus anime, or even speculation thereof, as I can easily see something like that drifting off-topic too quickly. *However*, reports of ConFurence, while seemingly off-topic, are fine *if* you can tie them in to either the Kats or the list, no matter how remotely. ;-) ------------------------------ From: Dave Huang Date: Tue, 21 Jan 1997 13:41:32 -0600 (CST) Subject: Re: Back to your regularly scheduled listmail On Tue, 21 Jan 1997, Dana Uehara wrote: > I didn't get a chance to meet any fellow list members (or at least I don't > *think* I did) other than Doc Konway, but I *did* show up at the felines > SIG (special interest group) and managed to vent my frustrations at Ted > Turner for having cancelled the series. (At least it was on the original version of the FAQ *I* wrote way back, when we were on mv.com!) Total, including the SKIQ episode, is 24. Hanna-Barbera produced 13 episodes for the first season (which is normal for a Saturday morning show) and 10 for the second (11, counting the SKIQ episode). Three episodes (which would have completed the second season) were scrapped during production, although the voice tracks were laid down at the time. The SKIQ episode was originally intended to launch the second season, but it aired *after* all of the other episodes aired (back in February '94 or so, if I remember correctly). It has only aired once during the Kats' regular run (on independent stations and TBS) and, to the best of my knowledge, twice on the Cartoon Network, when it was showing a Super Chunk of the Kats. As for Callie having a hotline to the Kats: as DJ noted, this was never fully explained in the show. Callie apparently doesn't know who they really are, either -- although I suspect from her comment (and wistful smile!) in "Night of the Dark Kat," when she, T-Bone and Razor escape from the Enforcers in her car, that she probably has a good idea. Perhaps she *does* know, but she doesn't let on, as the SWAT Kats can do a better job of protecting the city than Feral and the Enforcers. I've had a few ideas like that floating around in my head along various storylines for a while. The first would happen *very* late in the "Children of the Stone" series, when Chance has become Commander of the local enforcers in his new home in Scotland (hint as to what happens in "Safe Haven" for COTS fans), and of course his kid (a gargoyle, according to the series) and maybe Jake's daughter get to have their fun. The best part of the story would actually be Chance's character, around 55-65 now and more matured. He's a less by-the-book version of Feral, always looking out for his kid (much like the Feral/Felina relationship). The second one actually involves Jake's nephew (in another timeline seperate from COTS). It's been at least 7-10 years since Chance was killed in action (as T-Bone), and Jake has been living in an institution because of it. Of course the rookie admires his half-sane relative. The plot would probably involve the nephew getting into some case that would point towards the involvement on the villian responsible for killing Chance and making Jake the way he currently is -- which would bring Jake more heavily into the action. But I haven't sorted it all out yet in my head. >I've attempted to write a fan-fic once but it just didn't go anywhere. I've been getting a lot of fanfiction lately that is technically qualified as "NC-17" in the general rating system. 1. Does anyone have any objections to me posting NC-17 work? With a warning, of course. This may sound strange, considering I already posted one on Saturday night, but I didn't really expect such an influx of new works since then in this category. I will try to post two versions -- one begining the original NC-17, and the other being only rated "R" or below, with the scenes with problem context removed or toned down. An example of this system is "Behind the Veil" by Don Redmond (currently on the archive). However, I can't always do that, especially when I get a story that doesn't really have a plot outside the problem scenes, and removing them would leave me with about 5 Kb worth of story. But I can try. 2. How do you feel about me rejecting fanfiction I think just ... disturbs me? Kind of an odd question, but I've been getting work that doesn't involve sex or anything else psoted in the guidelines as "unsuitable material" but just kinda freaks me out. It is *my* archive, but I don't want to become an "exclusive" archive -- I want to stay open to everyone and don't want to discourage people from sending stuff because they're worried about it. BTW -- there will be no archive update this weekend (probably), because of my tremendously busy schedule. I have been getting a lot of pieces, however, so look for one early next week. I didn't redirect it to majordomo, and won't subscribe anyone whose email address resides in the hotmail.com domain, because I've been hearing that email has been bouncing with an unknown host error from that domain. (I've also received spam mail from that address, and replies to it have bounced with similar errors.) I'll be periodically checking the list of subscribers on the kats list and digest and weeding out any "hotmail.com" addresses. I also unsubscribe people whose email bounces with a "user unknown" error (this happens most frequently with AOL subscribers). Otherwise, I won't unsub anyone without warning. Questions on this to me in email, please. Thanks. And now back to your regularly scheduled list... ------------------------------ End of kats-digest V1 #133 ************************** ----------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Majordomo file: list 'kats-digest' file 'v01.n134' Date: Sat, 23 Aug 1997 06:14:27 -0400 (EDT) From: Majordomo@maxie.com To: GateKat@SWATKats.Net -- From: owner-kats-digest To: kats-digest Subject: kats-digest V1 #134 Reply-To: kats Errors-To: owner-kats-digest Precedence: bulk To-Unsubscribe: send the command 'unsubscribe kats-digest' to 'majordomo@maxie.com' kats-digest Friday, 31 January 1997 Volume 01 : Number 134 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: owner-kats Date: Thu, 30 Jan 1997 11:55:38 +0400 Subject: New Swat Kats Home Page... I too am sorry to see the kats off the air, but I have almost every episode on tape. So if anyone wants a copy of the tapes, please e-mail me, and I will see what I can do. Check back at the end of February for the March kat-birthdays (I've got quite a few)... If you want to be added, just let me know! I'll also email the full list of kat-birthdays that I have to people *upon individual request*. If you want to see your kat-birthday on the list, you'll have to wait until the month (or a day or two before) of your birthday for it to appear. ;-) ------------------------------ From: Razor1701@aol.com Date: Thu, 30 Jan 1997 21:57:53 -0500 (EST) Subject: 1st annual kat awards Does anyone know what happened to the first annual kat awards?
