This is a new SWAT Kat page done by my friend Jon Elisse from USY on Wheels last summer. It also contains his Dr. Who crossover fanfic, which is on my site. http://www.radiks.net/elisse.swatkats.html He likes to go by the name PI Hackle. That's not Private Investigator Hackle, it's Professor Isaac Hackle (he takes a lot from my stories, where I gave Hackle a first name). His e-mail is pihackle@hotmail.com SITE UPDATE: - - I will have an updated version (with a few more chapters) of Jon's "Planet of the Cheetah People" shortly. - - "The Archiever's Guide" link now works, and the "DayNight" Series Parts 2-5 I am still word wrapping so check back in a few days (I know you're all dying to read those). - - The massive *prologue* (42 Kb!) of Simon Leet's new fanfic will be up shortly, if I can convince him so forth. - - The "Midnight Magic" series, which I know you're all so excited to read again, has been reformatted. The original 17 parts have been combined and then split again into 3 (roughly 100 Kb) sections. They were edited by Ryan, but I still found them unappropriate and am in the process of editing out all the mentions of things we really don't want to read about (anyone who read the old versions should know what I'm talking about). The plot won't be changed, but at least the incest will be *outta there*! It'll be up maybe next weekend. - - "X-File #10-1115" is still being edited--what else is new? I hit a few plotholes. - - "Enforcer Down," Jade F. Callan's new fanfic, is due out in a around a month. I have been *very* busy with other things lately and shall continue to be that way, but I will try my hardest to update as much as possible. Thanks! No, nobody's been dropped off the list or digest, unless they've unsubbed themselves from either. Listmail has been really slow the past couple of days. Some list members may also be at ConFurence East, a convention of anthropomorphic ("furry") fans; so there may not be any response from them until the con is over on Sunday. > How 'bout this? In "The Ghost Pilot" Jake's done some running on a treadmill as well as some weightlifting... and given how good a swimmer Jake was in "Mutation City" I'd say he probably does some swimming as well in his spare time. In bowling, your aim is *far* more important than the amount of muscle that you deliver to the ball. A light ball aimed properly would be likely to do more to the pins than a heavier ball thrown as hard as possible, without as much aim. I also have a feeling that Chance would be more likely to rush in his approach and delivery than Jake and Felina, who would tend to take their time more, so the overall result would be that both Jake and Felina would score higher. But between those two, it's a tossup for me as far as who would win. ------------------------------ From: Matt Weber Date: Sat, 16 Nov 1996 16:15:03 -0500 Subject: Mistaken names I was watching "Pastmaster Always Rings Twice" today (11/16). It's in the scene right after they save Ann Gora, I believe, and they're trying to figure out where the alien bug will go next. That's simply a production mistake, once on Barry Gordon to say it and again on Davis Doi and others not to catch it during the editing process (or they did but didn't feel like redoing the voice over for some reason--maybe Barry was out of town). Then there's always the possibility that the line could've been originally intended to be used as a plot device for a later episode--you know, someone heard it and there would be a show revolving around them and how they handle that information. Probably not, but it would make a cool fanfic wouldn't it? It seems Callie's connection to the Swat Kat's goes a little father than the April O'neil TMNT thing. She seems to hint that she just might know who T-bone and Razor are. I can't really cite examples, but I'm guessing she has known Jake and Chance from for a few years, as cited in "The Giant Bacteria" when she goe to them to fix her car and implies that she's had prior contatc. There is also implication that Chance is quite interested in Callie and that callie is interested in Jake - relationship wise. Here's some food for thought: Do you think Callie knows who the SWAT Kats are? Do you think Callie is interested in Jake? If Callie is interested in Jake, who's left to be Chance's girl? Uh, let's not get started on this one, please. Truth is, you can argue either "yes" or "no" until you're blue in the face -- and either would probably be right. But it's all speculation, based on a single comment that Callie makes in "The Giant Bacteria." It's interesting that there weren't any horses used in "Bride of the Pastmaster," when I imagine they would've provided some kind of transportation for the Queen instead of having her walking around with the footsoldiers. Someone presented the arguement, however, that horses simply wouldn't take to well to having clawed carnivores on their backs--since they all ready have a problem with non-clawed omnivories. My fanfiction does have about 3 horses in the medieval section of COTS, but that's about it. I don't have them so widely use, but I can't imagine any other source of transportation for the Dark Ages. Go figure? The animation varies according to the studio (Hanho versus Mook) and sometimes even *within* the studio, depending on the animator(s) involved. This was something I brought up on the list some time ago. How they manage to sit in the Turbokat without getting tail cramps is beyond me, although Doc Konway *did* suggest once that it's likely each kat curls his tail around one leg, much as a house cat does when he's sitting. When Razor's piloting the Cyclotron, however, his tail simply hangs out behind him. I've tended to assume that the tails "flatten" better than those on an Earthly tailed mammal. The tailbone probably tucks in a bit more. Admittedly, I've had a couple medical types tell me recently (while working on my slipped disk), humans aren't really built to sit, either. Chances are, if you were to encounter a wild human swinging from trees that had never attempted the seated position for his entire life, he'd probably groan in pain the first time you forced him to sit in a chair. Us "civilized" types have gotten used to the spinal twists. I've heard of similar reactions when adult Austrailian bushmen first put on shoes, it's _painful_ to them. Perhaps we can extrapolate a similar effect on Kats- they spend so much time in chairs, they simply "get used" to having their tail wedged up in the small of the back, or off to one side, or wherever. Either that or the seats have holes for their tails to stick through like the pants the SWAT Kats are wearing. I also noticed that the seating is quite spacious in one of the episodes. I could have sworn I saw Razor sitting at his controls as though he was on a reclining chair. Besides, Manx's name might refer to his nationality. Though his last name could be Frank or Scott or Gasconez or Wolf and it wouldn' change the reality. Several things actually. First, he seems to have forgotten to remember that #swatkats is on Dalnet. Second, there is no mention of clients for any OS other than Windoze! #swatkats is a registered channel on Dalnet, which is one of many IRC networks. If you join the channel on other networks there will likely be even fewer people there. :/ Pretty much any good client (I know Ircle does, don't know about that mIRC thing :) will have the addresses of the major Dalnet servers already in it. Okay Mac users. The best client I've seen for Mac is Ircle. You can find it at the Ircle home page (below). There are links there to _all kinds_ of IRC info. As to other clients you might find for Mac: Homer sucks; MacIRC is good, but still a little unstable; NSChat _really_ sucks; Quarterdeck Global Chat is very limited in what it can do. There are also clients for other platforms, ircII, VMSIRC, amIRC, etc. I don't know much about them. :) Ircle home page: http://www.xs4all.nl/~ircle/ http://www.ircle.com/ <- US mirror site Dalnet home page: http://www.dal.net - -- ________________________________________________________ / Michael J.
