I rarely get detailed information about people's interest in the Fan Art Page. If you still enjoy the FA Page, and think that a forum to participate in would be a good idea, please, e-mail me and let me know! I always appreciate contributions! Visitor support is what has made SK Zone such a huge site! --------- I've added a handy-dandy new navigational tool: A JAVA site map! It's a side-window, expandable and collapsable, so it operates like a Windows directory. It also shows graphically the organization and location of the various SK Zone sections. I personally feel that this is pretty handy, since SK Zone is so large, I know that even I have trouble locating things on it from time to time. This is actually up and operating right now. When whitestorm.com comes back online, you can visit it and click "Lost?" and wander to your heart's content! --------- I'm removing the "thanks" page, because all outside contributions to SK Zone are noted specifically on the items themselves. This makes room for..... --------- SK Zone's new section: Play! The key to SWAT Kats Zone is its visitors - and interactivity is the key to visitors! In this spirit, I'm adding a new section where Katsfans can play SK games, chat on message boards, etc, and basically become involved in SK Zone and with other katsfans. This section, due to its nature, will employ some JAVA scripting and possibly need to have cookies enabled. I will guarantee the security of user's information- SK Zone will in no way investigate, infringe upon, or share a user's info. JAVA and cookies will be used solely for proccessing the games. In addition, the JAVA applets are minimal - they will not be huge applications designed to crash your browser. People who hate java games will not hate these games. :) Features: * Play! is the new home of the Choose Your Own Adventures. These are currently up and running! (Well, when whitestorm.com comes back online.) * There is a JAVA WordSearch, featuring SK-related word lists, and other fun things. This is the same wordsearch that was located in the RPG area, but I've moved it, and will be adding new word lists periodically, to make it more accessible to SK Fans. (This is also fully operational.) * There will be a Pop Quiz section, featuring multiple-choice questions, that will actually grade you and give you a percentage score. You will be able to find out How Obsessed Are You With Razor? and Could You Cut It As a Villain? New quizzes will be written periodicaly. (Some of these should be up before I go on vacation.) * SWAT Kats Video Game - There will be a section where SK fans can download the SNES Emulator program for their computers, get the ROM file of the SK SNES game, and find some hints, tips, and cheats about the game itself (if they're feeling sneaky!) Legal information will definitely be posted on the page, if only to cover my own butt. * Build Megakat City - Another JAVA application that is deceptively simple. If you have ever played with Colorforms, or played SimCity, then you have an idea what this section will look like. Users will be able to drag and drop images (such as buildings, cars, monsters, etc) onto a simple background, in order to create their own MKC layout, SWAT Kats base, MKC Park, etc - since everyone has their own idea what the city should look like, why not have some fun making it? (A preliminary version of this will be available before I go on vacation.) *******ASSISTANCE ENCOURAGED********** Since I have to find all the image files needed to constantly upgrade this section and add new "sets," anyone who is willing to donate usable images or sets is greatly encouraged! Currently my image stockpile is fairly weak - most of my buildings I have ripped from SimCity2000, and everything else is clipart. SK-specific images are needed most of all! If you have a tiny, usable icon-sized image of the Turbokat, Razor, etc, I would love to use it. And of course, all donators will be thanked specifically! (Please wait until you see this page in action - it will give you a better idea what a "usable" image is. Size, transparancy, needed icons, etc.) * And to top it off, a message board forum where participants can post high scores, make suggestions, comment on anything they liked/disliked about Play!, share their cities (via screengrabs), and discuss things in general. (This message board is currently operational.) --------- And, of course, the usual things, such as an updated SK Links page, updated RPG section, etc.... If you can't tell, I'm mostly excited about Play! and the new navigational options. -------- And, finally: I now have the capability to make CD-Rom versions of SK Zone. This will involve some considerable additional work for me, so it is imperative that I get FEEDBACK from SK Zone fans about this!!! This CD-Rom will be FOR HOME REFERENCE USE ONLY. SK Zone is a huge site, with thousands of media files. I am fully aware that it is difficult for a visitor to view all the image files, listen to all the sound files, and watch all the movie files. This CD-Rom will be created in an effort to make SK Zone's content for people with limited or slow internet access, or for personal use reaasons. I am absolutely dead-set on following legal procedures if I am going to make SK Zone available on CD-Rom. Major tenets of this will include: A) This CD Rom will be essentially FREE OF CHARGE, since it is illegal for me to make money off of ANYTHING SK-related. The estimated cost will be about $5 - Writable CD roms cost approximately US$1 apiece. Shipping charges will vary. Individuals who wish to order a copy will be given the specific price - since shipping costs vary internationally. B) The Fan Art Page and RPG sections will be ENTIRELY UNAVAILABLE! The works of those artists are NOT my property - I will not even consider placing them into wide distribution. C) Anything that has been contributed by other people I will need to get permission from before I will distribute them in hard format. (So, for instance, the promo pages donated by Kristen Sharpe - the CYOAs - the Model Sheets donated by various people - would all have to be OK'ed by the donators before I will burn them on a CD.) However, since they've allowed me to place them on a widely-known website, I don't anticipate problems for people to OK a home-use CD. D) My own personal copyright - I will not make SK Zone available on CD-Rom if I feel that any of MY work (mainly the HTML pages and distribution format) are going to be abused, or published anywhere, or used for ANYTHING OTHER THAN HOME REFERENCE, I will NOT go through with this project. The publishing of any content of the CD will be expressly forbidden! (Aside from the content that comes explicitly from the broadcast show, which no one can claim ownership of aside from H-B, such as the screen shots and the movie files.) This is following US Copyright Laws, which are not to be trifled with. I personally feel that this CD-Rom is a useful and plausible idea, but I desperately need feedback on it. If the SK Fans don't feel that it is a workable idea, then I won't do it. However, if they feel that this is a project that they would enjoy, and that most people would not abuse, then I will likely go through with it. SK Zone has been updated, finally. There's a bunch of new stuff, plus some of the sections have been a little cleaned up, like the SK Links. Incidentally I also updated my personal artwork site. (Better to do it all at once.) I'm really too tired to do a good promo for SK Zone right now, so here's the basics: Regular old updatey things: new/updated SK Links, Fan Art update, RPG section update (with new info on the altSKRPG) Got some new promo sheets from Kristen Sharpe. Buncha new stuff: Javascript expandable/collapsable sitemap menu. Click on "lost?" and there it is! It took me forever to do. Appreciate it. It's purdy. Also, a new section called "Play!" that has: CYOAs, java WordSearch, java/cookie Pop Quiz (gives you real results to multiple-choice questions), java drag-and-drop Build Megakat City (that thing is SO fun!), the SNES game, emulator, and codes, and a new message board forum for feedback, ideas, and general chatty type things. It looks like there's a lot of new java on my site, which is true, but it's all pretty simple (for java) and SK Zone is still streamlined for low-bandwidth users. The java functions are all version 1.2 (I'm pretty sure) and should work flawlessly with most browsers starting with Netscape 3.0 or so. They all load pretty quickly, and the stuff they do is useful and/or fun, so I think they're all right. Coming up: A few more BMKC sets, some new (and less stupid) quizzes, new wordlists... actually, everything in Play! should be getting regular updates, probably more frequently than the rest of the page. It all depends on how popular they are and what kind of response I get from them. Use that message board! Bedtime now.
