I had Cartoon Network on as background noise (it was added to my channel line up only a couple weeks before, in early October or late September 97) and an ad for the channel came on (it's still on every so often). I don't know why I turned my head to watch as two second clips from a hundred shows flashed by in jumbled order until the scene from The Pastmaster Always Rings Twice came on. The one were the Megalasaurus Rex stepped on a car and an Enforcer leaped out of the way right at the 'camera'. Fur, ears, tail, and muzzle clearly visible with his gun and body armor. Heart went into my throat and stayed there for about 30 hours till long after I'd seen an entire episode the next day. Started my first FanFic scribbles shortly there after. > Why do you like them? I'm a sucker for furry action shows. Add to that it's feline and I would have watched almost no matter how bad it was. Didn't turn out that way though. It went from 'something I'll watch no matter how bad it is' to the top of my obsessions list in about the first five minutes and only ingrained more into my psyche from there. > Do you remember your feelings, when you saw them first? I remember my words. (SK clip flashes by in commercial) Me: "Shit! Cats!" Mate: "What?" Me: "God, Military Cats! Cartoon. Now I've just got to find it." Mate: (intelligently hands me the TV This Week without another word) Me: (growling hatefully) "No Cartoon Network." Mate: "On line?" (frantically scrambles through logon, Yahoo search and geographic information input to hunt down CN and scan it hour by hour. Had the modem less than a month at this point and was a good deal less than familiar with navigating the web.) Me: "Oh ya, SWAT Kats." Mate: "New obsession."
