My first suggestion: get a good flatbed scanner. It truly is worth the extra money if you can. A method I find that works well is to scan at very high size and resolution at the max colors and then use a good quality graphics program to resize and compress it to a reasonable size (width 600, height whatever that leads to, 75 to 300 dpi depending on details) without loosing the appearance. After a few trials you'll probably find a size and compression range that works well with your style. And don't use metallics (pencil or ink) if possible in the coloring, they don't scan well at all no matter how good the scanner. (May Dennis Miller bless me in my rant.) Roughnecks - Starship Troopers is a beautiful full CGI show that is based upoon Robert Heilenin (SP??) very same book. The cannon facts are separate from the movie, so consider it separate from the movie and I'm told from an anime attempt back in the 80's (am I that old??). So don't confuse the two. Oh yeah, it airs on the WB channel, if you can get it. The full CGI is that there's no attempt to intergrate real animation and/or even real stuff like flames or backgrounds into it. I think these are the guy who do the CGI for Hercules and Xena. And it's more realistic than any other Are you still reading?? Not to get on a rant here, but the movie okay, shows some M/F skin. Mostly it's your typical flash-glam Hollywood crap with cheap plotlines that can be seen a mile away, stupid twists [one gal spurs her boyfriend because she wants a flight stick between her legs, another gal gets killed that loves said boyfriend - at least he got a romp with her]. You get my point. That's why I watch exclusively anime and or offshore made shows (Canada counts in my book, so does Texas [DODGE! OOWWW!!]). Anyway, to put the SWAT Kats into perspective. It has holes in it's technology curve (Korean era jets with LASERS??, TurboKat bigger on the inside that the outside??, hardly any computers??), their base alone has no explanation, and who else thinks that it's Earth where the show takes place? Gimmie solid facts, not fannon facts. I'd say the sky color is a tip-off btw. And where they are located is not good enough (California my butt!!). But then again, that's just my opinion. Most of my favorite pencil artists swear by Prismcolor pencils. After muttering about the cost, I bought a 12 pack and I now know why they love them. This is what I did just to see how different they were from my standard color pencils (major quality difference). After the collar and eyes, I was sold on Prismcolors. Tomorrow I get the big box. The image is a (poor quality) scan and print of the pencil original then colored with the Prismcolor. I'm still working on final touches before inking and computer coloring it. I just wanted something to color with my new toys and I do like the pic. Shading with pencils now *works*.
